Chapter History

Twenty three years after the founding of The Links national organization in Philadelphia by Sarah Scott and Margaret Hawkins, the Fort Valley Chapter was organized.  On March 1, 1969, Emma Clement Walker, an outstanding educator at Fort Valley State College unified a group of twenty two professional women with the Columbus Chapter as sponsors established the Fort Valley Chapter of The Links.

The chapter became the sixth entering Linkdom in the state of Georgia and the thirtieth in the Southern Area dedicated to serving the community through the four program facets. The newly formed chapter elected Emma C. Walker as the first president.  She quickly became active in the Southern Area by serving as the journalist and archives committee.  Other presidents have followed int he footsteps of Link Walker and served with distinction.
